PEA Soup Puzzles
Many readers will be familiar with our discussions of recently published papers in moral and political philosophy, in journals such as Ethics and Free & Equal.
Alongside these discussions of published and polished work, PEA Soup used to also be a place for people to try out ideas and for informal discussion of issues and questions in moral and political philosophy.
We are looking to revive that aspect of the site with a new series we are calling Puzzles.The idea is to introduce puzzles that have not received a great deal of attention, and to encourage informal discussion of them.
We are going to kick off the series with a discussion from 20-22 October, based on some puzzles about using others, developed by our own Victor Tadros. Many people think it is often wrong to use others, and that we have strong claims or permissions to avoid being used. Victor’s puzzles concern cases in which these two commitments come into conflict—when we can avoid being used only by using.
All are welcome to join us in this discussion. But beyond that, we would like to invite people to propose their own puzzles for discussion. If you would like to propose a puzzle, please write to ignacio.pena-caroca@warwick.ac.uk
