David Sobel and I have been working to put together a conference on Practical Reason and Metaethics. (A highly original title, I know, but somehow strangely apt.) It will be held about a year hence, on April 20-22, 2012 at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. We will be treated to talks by Nomy Arpaly, Michael Bratman, Jamie Dreier, Peter Railton, Connie Rosati, Mark Schroeder, and Michael Smith. We also are saving two time slots for blind refereed papers. The submitters of the two chosen papers will have reasonable expenses (up to $1000) of getting here and staying for the conference picked up by by us.
We ask for a long (up to 1000 word) paper abstract and a complete draft paper, both properly anonymized to remove author information, as well as information from which we could reasonably speculate as to the author's identity. We'd like these by November 15, 2011. Referees will then narrow down the initial submissions using the abstracts and then pick the two final papers based on reading the papers whose abstracts make them finalists. We're very serious about keeping selection process as blind as possible so we ask for your cooperation in submitting properly blinded papers and abstracts. Also, please don't tell us you've submitted something for the conference until we announce the refereed program.
