In lieu of the customary "here-are-some-amazing-statistics-about-PEA-Soup" birthday message, we thought it would be better to post a "Yearbook" to share some good things that have happened to some of our fellow PEA brains over this past year.  A lot of good news appears below the fold.  If there is any more good news that should be shared, by all means please add it in the comments section.

  • Ben Bradley has just received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at Syracuse University
  • Samantha Brennan has just been promoted to Professor at the University of Western Ontario, effective July 1, 2008.
  • Michael Cholbi has received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at California State University Pomona.
  • Steve Finlay, of the University of Southern California, has been awarded a Charles A. Ryskamp Fellowship, funded by the Mellon Foundation and administered by the ACLS, and awared to no more than twelve individuals annually.
  • Jason Kawall has just received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at Colgate University
  • Doug Portmore has just received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at Arizona State University, and was named Faculty Fellow at the Murphy Institute, Tulane University for the coming year
  • Mark Schroeder has just received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at the University of Southern California
  • Dave Shoemaker, of Bowling Green University, was named Faculty Fellow at the Murphy Institute, Tulane University
  • Dave Sobel was made Robert R. Chambers Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and the Moral Sciences at the University of Nebraska.

  1. Laurie Shrage has just accepted a new position as Director of Women’s Studies and Professor of Philosophy at Florida International University (Miami) and will be moving there this August. That’s great news, Laurie. Congratulations!
